VFX Artists

Stargate SG1/Atlantis production is seeking VFX savvy 3D Artists and Compositors for work on this award-winning science fiction television series and upcoming films. The main tools we use are Lightwave, Digital Fusion, Maya and Combustion but artistic skills and work ethic/personality will win the day. Must be able to adapt to a variety of tasks and communicate well with other staff, show supervisors and producers.

Modelers must be excellent with organic (sub-d) and hard surface tasks, with an eye for detail in their texturing abilities. Attention to topology, UV mapping, edge looping and other tasks associated with the creation of 3D models is paramount. Subjects range from weaponry and spaceships to fantastic creatures, digital doubles and more. We prefer Lightwave or Maya but experience with any higher end package is fine.

Animators must be able to set up entire complex sequences, from animatic to final. While character experience is desirable, a background or shown excellence with cinematography/camera work is a must. Previous experience with fast action and science fiction related themes is a plus.

Generalists should be able to adapt to a wide variety of roles, from the modeling/animation tasks above to particle simulation, camera tracking, dynamics, voxels/fluids, scripting and other roles as needed. Additional tools include Realflow, Vue, Terragen, Blastcode, Zbrush, Matchmover, Syntheyes etc..

Compositors need to be VFX savvy, used to dealing with layered 3D elements and flexible when it comes to delivering anything our show's writers dream up. While rig removals, split screens, zat/glows and the like are part of our work, we mainly take on very challenging sequences which often involve the entire team.

In all cases, at least two to three years experience is expected, or an equivalent skillset. These are not in any way "entry level" positions.

Positions are slated to start Spring 2007 and run until approx February-March 2008 with potential to work on further seasons of the production.

First consideration will be given to residents of Canada but all with exceptional talents are welcome to apply.

Location is "on the lot" at the Bridge Studios in Burnaby (Vancouver), British Columbia, Canada.

Due to volume of submissions, we regret we may not be able to reply to any but selected candidates. CV (PDF, RTF or TXT only) and link to any work present online should be emailed to stargatevfxjobs@gmail.com. If including media, please limit size of attachments to a total of 1 megabyte or less. Demo reels will be called for as needed.
